The Social Studies Curriculum for Kindergarten through grade 7 focuses primarily on the study of the United States: its history, geography, economics and civics. Our children’s journey through American history begins with the Native Americans, especially those tribes indigenous to New England. It continues through Colonial America, the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, The Gilded Age, and the two World Wars. Following study of the Great Depression and its aftermath, the curriculum culminates with an exploration of two of the twentieth centuries' most significant events, the Cold War and the Civil Rights movement. In grades 6 and 7, the curriculum also includes the study of U.S. Civics and economics. The grade 8 curriculum is a study of Western Civilization.
