Grades 7 & 8

SojournersSharing two homerooms, the Sojourners bring their Academy Hill journey to a powerful conclusion and plot their paths to high school. They balance rigorous work across the disciplines with in-depth pursuit of personal interests. In writing, the plan is to have the student not just write but craft his or her writing which we see exhibited in long essays and stories. Grappling with complex multi-sided issues--current events like stem cells, or even to some degree...proofs in geometry. Students are encouraged to express their ideas about these issues in a clear and succinct manner. Students are asked to take greater responsibility in organizing their days and keeping track of assignments.  They work on time management and exhibit more independence in their studies in order to prepare them for high school. Sojourners leave Academy Hill ready to lead in even the most challenging of high school environments.
