Our History

Academy Hill was founded in 1979, offering enrichment programs on Saturday for area children. In 1986, Academy Hill opened its doors as an independent day school and soon established itself as the preeminent educator of gifted and talented children in the Pioneer Valley. The mission of Academy Hill is to nurture and challenge bright minds. Our rigorous curriculum is designed specifically for children who show early signs of exceptional ability in academics, creativity, or leadership in order to stimulate them to achieve their full potential. We encourage our students to become respectful young people who are excited about their learning and are able to push the boundaries of the traditional educational setting.

Today the total enrollment is 109 students in kindergarten through grade 8. Current students come from 19 different communities from the Pioneer Valley. We are centrally located in Springfield, Massachusetts. Students matriculate to a wide range of secondary schools, including the most academically competitive independent schools in the area.
